Before Optelcon even gets quotes, we pre-screen vendors by performing pre-engineering and network pre-qualifications. Optelcon has a database of building and street level fiber maps. This allows us to tell who “really” has the capability to deliver on-net services and who will have to build fiber or order the last mile from another carrier.  By selecting carriers that are “really” on-net, installs are faster and the last mile price is generally lower.

When clients source through Optelcon’s network, Optelcon is treated as a broker.  As such, Optelcon is paid directly by whatever vendor or data center our clients select. Since we are paid by all of the vendors, we are completely agnostic. We want the best solution at the best price for our clients. We know that if we deliver the best price and solution, our clients will continue to use Optelcon for their sourcing needs.  Due to the amount of resources that are required to pre-engineer, pre-qualify, bid and consolidate the pricing data, there is a sourcing fee. This fee is based on the type of services, complexity, number of locations, number of vendors, geography, and other factors. Since, however, we are paid a brokerage fee from the carriers, any sourcing fees are credited once services are ordered.
