Maria Arteaga -Vice President of Data Architecture and Business Process Engineering
As Vice President of Data Architecture And Business Process Engineering, Maria is responsible for the database design, development, and general management of our cutting edge systems. Maria is also responsible for the management of our development team in both the U.S. and Bucharest, Romania.
Prior to joining Optelcon, Ms. Arteaga was one of the 5 original
individuals who started Universal Access. Maria was largely responsible
for the technical execution of the UAI business plan. Maria was the
original data architect and developer for Universal Access', Patented
and industry leading, multi-vendor quoting and provisioning systems;
used by virtually every major U.S. and European Telecommunications
company. In addition, Maria was integral in the design and development
of the Universal Information Exchange (UIX). The UIX is currently the
largest repository of network infrastructure in the world; detailing
the fiber optic networks of over 50 carriers, in over 500,000
buildings. These systems enabled Universal Access to grow from the
original 5 person team to a publicly traded company with a market
capitalization in excess of 2.5B.
Throughout her tenure at Universal Access, she performed a number of
critical functions and stepped into a number of roles as the company
grew. These roles included, operations, process engineering, knowledge
management, developing cost and network auditing programs as well as
creating the UIX and Provisioning systems.
Maria lead the company initiative to acquire ISO 9001 compliance. As
part of the ISO 9001 initiative she developed and managed a cross
functional process definition and improvement effort. Ms. Arteaga also
managed the processing of carrier infrastructure and cost information
used for analysis and the development of proprietary pricing tools such
as Quick Quote, a pricing and configuration tool customized to client
specifications.
Prior to Universal Access, Ms. Arteaga was responsible for system
development, general accounting and the creation of automated billing
systems for Arista Communications, the largest master agency for
Teleport Communications Group (Now AT&T).
Ms. Arteaga started her career at Telecomet, Inc, an international
Voice and Data Network Design Integrator. Ms. Arteaga's roles included
office administration, project management and engineering support,
purchasing of all computer network, telephone and trading system
equipment. While at Telecomet, Ms. Arteaga co-developed an automated
Purchase Order system.
